Robert Pierce trained as a bowmaker in London and New York, having previously played for 12 years in his native Irish National Symphony Orchestra. He then worked with Pierre Guillaume for 10 years before setting up his own workshop in Brussels.
The fact that playing quality has always been the primary focus of Pierce bows was recognised in Strad International Bowmaking Competitions in Mancheser, where he won awards for best performing bow on two consecutive occasions.
He is a member of the Groupe des Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art de France and also of the International Pernambucco Conservation Initiative. All Pierce bows are made from CITES declared wood.
